Categories & Entry Guidelines

  Open to businesses that have been trading less than three years.
  Open to businesses with Fulltime Equivalent staff (FTE) 1 – 15
  Open to businesses with Fulltime Equivalent staff (FTE) 16 - 50
  Open to businesses with Fulltime Equivalent staff (FTE) 51+


  Open to businesses whose principle activity is the sale of goods to the consumer. Reliability, value and outstanding customer service are all essential to the overall retail experience.

  This award is specifically for the Not for Proft sector. Entrants should demonstrate their commitment and involvement to enhancing and supporting the South Canterbury community, and this could be in areas such as culture, education, health or welfare.

 Special Awards 2015

  This business is creatively using technology to their advantage in achieving success and has adopted new innovative methods or systems in their company. The technology (or technologies) is not limited to IT, and will provide a competitive advantage through its application and leverage. Entry is optional for this award

  This award is voted by the public of South Canterbury through the South Canterbury District website All finalists are eligible for this award

  This award acknowledges the overall winner selected from all the category winners

Entry Guidelines
  • Each section must be completed within the specified word limit, so plan your entry to gain maximum mileage out of the limited word count. The word count is however a maximum number and you may be able to complete some sections with less than this amount.
  • Please word process your answers. No handwritten entries will be accepted.
  • Answer all questions clearly and concisely and avoid narrative as a substitute for hard facts. The use of bullet points may assist in summarising information.
  • Entering can be a real team effort so consider brainstorming the questions with your staff, business partners, advisors etc. You might be surprised at the level of involvement and interest shown.
  • Appendices are not allowed.
  • It is not compulsory to include financial indicators, however indicators such as gross profit percentage could enhance your entry.
