The 2017 South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence awards recognise and celebrate business excellence, playing an important role in promoting and strengthening economic growth in the region. Entering these prestigious awards provides you and your team with a rare opportunity to take a step back from day to day operations and review your business from a fresh perspective.

Nominate a business you think should be recognised for Business Excellence


The South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards are designed to recognise, reward and celebrate business success. Here is your opportunity to nominate a South Canterbury business you think deserves to be applauded for doing a great job.

We will contact the business and encourage them to enter the awards. Businesses do not need to be Chamber members and can enter whether they have been nominated or not. Please send your nomination to Your details will not be provided to the nominated business or used in any marketing material.

2017 Awards

Open to businesses whose principle activity is the sale of goods to the consumer. Reliability, value and outstanding customer service are all essential to the overall retail experience.

This award is specifically for the Not for Profit sector. Entrants should demonstrate their commitment and involvement to enhancing and supporting the South Canterbury community, and this could be in areas such as culture, education, health or welfare.

2017 Special Awards

This business is creatively using technology to their advantage in achieving success and has adopted new innovative methods or systems in their company. The technology (or technologies) is not limited to IT, and will provide a competitive advantage through its application and leverage.

This award recognises exemplary approach to workplace health and safety. Any business or charity may enter and entry is optional. Should you be selected as a finalist the judging process may include a worksite visit and assessment.

The employee of the year award recognises the outstanding service of an employee who has consistently excelled in their work. The award also recognises the value individuals create in a business regardless of the seniority of the role.

This award is voted by the public of South Canterbury through the website All finalists are eligible for this award.

This award acknowledges the overall winner selected from all the category winners.
